A few days ago a group of students of Gimnazjum 123 in Warsaw visited an eco-farm not far from our city. Our students met a fantastic couple, Ewa and Peter who not only grow healthy organic food, make cheese and bake bread. Together with a group of other people they set up a Folk University – the place where everybody who is interested in this subject can learn how to grow organic crops and take care of the soil. Our students had a chance to bake their own bread, they helped to pick potatoes, fed goats and even made an attempt to milk them! It was great fun for our kids, some of them have never had a chance to experience farming from so close. Wonderful workers of the university told us many intersting facts about bees (we also made candles using beeswax), we discussed the problem of disappearing insects which pollinate flowers, and talked about what we can do to help them. We also tried traditional folk art paper cutting and we finished off tasting the bread we baked! Fantastic place! Great trip! Amazing hands-on experience!
